Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our app. We are committed to maintaining your trust and safeguarding your data in compliance with applicable laws, including the UK GDPR and similar data protection standards.

Information We Collect

  • Account Information: Parents and teachers create accounts using their own email address. Children do not provide personal data or email addresses.
  • Child Profiles: Parents or teachers may create anonymous usernames for each child. The only data stored for child accounts are topic scores.
  • Usage Data: We may collect limited, anonymised data (e.g. device type, session duration) to improve performance and reliability.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process data to provide educational services under a lawful basis of “legitimate interest” and “consent” from the parent or teacher managing the account.

How We Use Information

  • To enable secure login and password resets
  • To track learning progress and display scores
  • To improve user experience and technical performance
  • To comply with legal obligations if required

Child Data and Consent

Only parents or teachers may create and manage child profiles. Children do not directly provide any personal information. All learning data is anonymous and limited to educational progress. In compliance with applicable child privacy laws (such as COPPA and UK GDPR child provisions), we require adult consent for all child participation.

Advertising

Non-paying sessions may display advertisements. Paid accounts are advert-free. Ads, when displayed, are served by third-party networks that may collect anonymous usage data (e.g. device or app version). We do not share personal data with advertisers or third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain user data only as long as necessary to operate the app and fulfil its educational purpose. Parents and teachers may delete their accounts (and all associated child data) at any time via the in-app settings. Deleted data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect stored information. While no system is completely secure, we are committed to ongoing measures that maintain the integrity and confidentiality of user data.

Email and Communication

The app uses a no-reply email address for password resets and automated messages. This address is not monitored. Direct support requests, when available, should be made through the in-app contact form.

Your Rights

  • Access: Request a copy of the data associated with your account.
  • Correction: Ask for corrections to inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and stored data.
  • Objection: Withdraw consent or object to specific processing.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be handled under the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any significant changes will be communicated through the app or website. Continued use of the app after updates indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
